iControlServer


Where can I find the iControlServer settings?


iControlServer's settings are located in the Mac OS X "System Preferences" pane. You can locate iControlServer's settings by clicking on the apple symbol on the top left corner of your screen and selecting "System Preferences". Within the "System Preferences" pane iControlServer is located under the "Other" section.

How do I start/stop iControlServer?


Open iControlServer's Preference Pane (how?).
In the server section you will find the server status indicating if the server is online or offline and a status toggle buttton.

How do I manage authorized devices?


Open iControlServer's Preference Pane (how?) and select the device you want to remove from the authorized devices list then click the remove button. When you attempt to pair you iPhone/iPod Touch with a Mac for the first time, A popup window will appear on your Mac requesting your authorization to connect with the iPhone/iPod Touch. Simply select "Accept" to perminently add the device to the authorized devices list or "Accept once" to allow a single control session. back to top

How do I stop iControlServer from automatiacally starting?


Open iControlServer's Preference Pane (how?) and uncheck the "Load iControlServer on startup" checkbox. iControlServer will not load next time you log in and you will have to enter the Preference Pane again to enable iControlServer.

How do I select a Mac to control?


To start a control session, start iControl on your iPhone/iPod Touch, tap the little "i" button on the top right corner of the touchpad and select "Available devices". If none are available make sure you have installed iControlServer on your Mac and that your Mac and iPhone/iPod Touch are connected to the same wireless network. If the list is still empty go to the troubleshooting section of this FAQ.

How do I load the wireless keyboard?


To load the wireless keyboard all you need to do is rotate your iPhone/iPod Touch into landscape mode while iControl is running and the keyboard will popup.

How do I modify the touchpad acceleration settings?


The acceleration settings are located in iControl on your iPhone/iPod Touch, and not on your Mac, thus allowing you to change the acceleration remotely. To chnage the acceleration start iControl and click the little "i" located at the top left corner of the screen. In the settings view, under Mouse settings you will find settings for the trackpad and each of the scrollbars, the more you add the higher the acceleration of the touchpad.

How do I select a Mac to control?

Technical Problems


No devices showing up on the "Available devices" screen, whats wrong?


Make sure you have installed the iControlServer software on your Mac, If your Mac still does not appear on your device list check that you are connected to the same wireless network with both the Mac and the iPhone/iPod Touch and that your Mac's Firewall is not preventing your iPhone/iPod Touch from connecting to it. If the list is still empty try restarting iControlServer how?

I have a device on the list but when I select the device it does not connect and the connection indicator keeps spinning, what do i do?


If this is the first time you are trying to connect your iPhone/iPod Touch to your Mac, a popup on the Mac will request that you authorize the connection request, press "Accept" to add the device to your authorized devices or "Accept once" to only accept this device for this session. If no popup appears check your Mac's firewall settings to accept incoming connections.

How do I start a Ad-Hoc wireless network for use with iControl?


To create a wireless Ad-Hoc network on your Mac, click on the wireless network menu icon in the top left corner of the menu bar. Select create network and give your network a unique name. Then press Ok to create the network. Now connect your iPhone/iPod Touch to the Ad-Hoc network you created on your Mac and start iControl.
